State Officer Candidates Information
All
Candidates must complete a State Officer Candidate Application form and
obtain the appropriate signatures. The completed applications are
due in the state office on September 25th.
Please note that there are separate forms for High School (secondary)
and College/Post-secondary candidates. PLEASE DO NOT FAX THESE
FORMS TO THE STATE OFFICE.
All
candidates must take the State Officer Basic SkillsUSA Knowledge Test
and achieve a grade of 70% or above to qualify for running for office.
All
candidates should be prepared to give a 2 – 3 minute speech to the
voting delegates and other conference participants. Candidates will be
asked problematic questions at the Thursday morning delegate session and
will be interviewed by the officers of each district prior to the
balloting.
Students considering
running for state office should be mindful of the serious commitment of
time and energy that a successful candidate will need to devote to being
a state officer. A Kansas state officer serves the organization and
members. Students already involved in varsity athletics, outside youth
groups and serious commitments of time to hobbies and other pursuits,
may find themselves running out of time and energy if they are elected.
Please discuss this commitment with all candidates from your school
prior to the conference in Hesston. |
