Registration:

All participants (contestants, advisors, chaperones, family members, etc.) are required to be registered participants.  The cost for registration is $115.00.  Enclosed in this packet is the Registration, Personal and Liability Release Form which needs to be completed by each participant.   The $115.00 fee is not refundable.  Please read the reverse of the form before signing.

Each form must be completed, signed and returned to the SkillsUSA Kansas office with accompanying payment by May 3, 2010.  All High School contestants regardless of age must have a parent’s or guardian’s signature at the bottom of the registration form.  NO EXCEPTIONS.

The process of registering for the national conference is done on-line at the national website by the Lead Advisor only.  The paper form is to be filled out and used by the school to complete the registration process.  High School contestant’s forms must be signed by a parent or guardian and then sent to the state office by May 3, 2010.

Contestants must work with their schools to complete the registration process. If a Gold Medal Winner declines to attend the National Conference, it is the school’s responsibility to communicate this to the State Office as soon as possible.  If the Silver Medal Winner is qualified for national competition, the State Office will notify the winner, his/her advisor and school.  Advisors should not contact the Silver Medal Winner, his/her school or advisor, as the qualification needs to be determined at the state office first.

Housing:

The Kansas delegation has been assigned rooms at:

The Marriott Downtown Kansas City

200 W. 12th Street

Kansas City MO 64105

816.421.6800

All members of our group must stay at this hotel for the National Conference.  Everyone will make reservations through the SkillsUSA Kansas office.  The housing form has been included in the Advisor’s Packet only.  Contestants must communicate directly with the Lead Advisor concerning their hotel reservation.  All members of the delegation are expected to check-in on Monday, June 21 after 3:00 PM but before 5:00 PM.  The Awards Session on Friday, June 25 will end close to 10:00 PM and it is recommended that everyone plan to spend Friday evening at the hotel and travel home on Saturday. The cost of the hotel depends on the accommodations selected.   Please review the attached cost information sheet.

We are limited to 30 Single Rooms (1 bed) and 41 Double Rooms (2 beds).  That means that everyone has to cooperate to make the housing situation work.

Please be aware that a Double means 2 beds, 2 people; a Triple means 2 beds, 3 people; a Quad means 2 beds, 4 people.  There will be no more than 4 individuals sharing a Quad.  Each school is asked to fill rooms.  Rollaways are not available.

Please be aware that a Single means one bed, one or two people.  If a husband and wife are sharing the room, the spouse must still pay the Registration fee ($115.00) and the Kansas Package fee ($85.00).  Parents, spouses, and children/grandchildren staying with the delegation must pay the Registration Fee and the Kansas Package fee.  No exceptions please.

If your school district will not permit students and teachers to arrange for overnight accommodations for the National Conference, a letter from an administrator should be sent to Ann Wick stating that condition.  The school will have to take the responsibility for students and accompanying teachers getting to all required meetings, including the Kansas Delegation Meeting on Monday, June 21 at 6:00 pm at the hotel.  This meeting is where nametags, programs, instructions, etc. are given to all members of the delegation.  All contestants will have to take the required National SkillsUSA Knowledge Test at this meeting.
